   Kathleen Dreyer

Kathleen M. Dreyer has been the Chief Librarian and Chair at the Borough of
Manhattan Community College (BMCC) Randolph Library for over five years.

within the department to build community and foster leadership.

The ACRL/NY <https://acrlny.org/> New Librarians Discussion Group and Mentoring
Program are committed to fostering and promoting a sense of community and
support among experienced academic librarians, LIS students, and those new
to the profession. We understand and appreciate the importance of our
professional communities, especially in these difficult times. In what ways
has the idea of community building changed during this pandemic, both
within and outside of your own institution? How does one build and nurture,
or just seek out, a supportive community? Leadership is incredibly
important to successful community building. What does leadership mean to
you? What does it mean to take on leadership at any level? What are some
qualities that define a successful leader?

Join us for a panel of individuals with community building and leadership
experience to discuss these ideas together with attendees.

This event is free and open to all current members of ACRL/NY only.

Memberships start at just $10 and benefits include participation in
our Mentoring
Program <https://acrlny.org/about2/mentoring-program/> and in all
Discussion Group events and programming such as this panel event, as well
as discounted registration fees for our Annual Symposium. Become a member
<http://acrlny.org/join-us/>! Not sure if you are a current member? Contact
sbaschnikw_at_oldwestbury.edu. NOTE: You do not have to be a national member
to join ACRL/NY. We have reduced rates for students and job seekers.
