***please excuse cross-posting***
You may have seen our call for survey participants earlier this year. We
are now gearing up for the focus group phase of our research. Please share
widely.
===
Dear Colleague,
Are you a librarian in a community or junior college? (By "community or
junior college," we mean any two-year, post-secondary educational
institution that offers an associate’s degree and/or certifications.)
If so, please consider participating in our research study. We are
gathering information about community or junior college librarians’
experiences with research and publication, an area of inquiry that is not
covered in the research literature.
We are seeking individuals who would be willing to participate in a
45-minute online focus group interview with other librarians.
Please see additional information, below, along with a link to begin the
scheduling process.

------------------------------
You are being asked to participate in this research study because you have
been employed within the past 5 years as a librarian at one or more
community or junior college(s). The purpose of this study is to gather
information about community or junior college librarians’ experiences as
research investigators, about their experience publishing or presenting
about their research projects, about barriers they may have experienced,
and about institutional supports for this activity that may have been
available to them.
If you agree to participate, we will ask you to take part in an online focus
group interview with other librarians, which will take approximately 45
minutes of your time.
- Participation carries no known risks. There will be no costs for
participating.
- You will receive no direct benefit for participating. The benefits to
society may include 1) new disciplinary understanding of an area of
professional work that has not previously been studied; 2) identification
of barriers to success that might be mitigated and of opportunities for
increased institutional support.
- You may refuse to answer any questions that you do not want to answer
and still remain in the study.
- To ensure the accuracy of our findings, the focus group interview will
be video recorded for later transcription and review by the research team.
You cannot participate in this study if you do not consent to video
recording. You will remain anonymous during the interview and in all
recordings, transcriptions, or notes.
Your participation in this research is voluntary. You may end your
participation at any time by closing your internet browser.
