Job Description
The S&T Publications group is seeking a candidate with knowledge and experience in research data management to satisfy the scientific data information needs of researchers and staff. With support from the Scientific Data Management Strategy Team, the successful candidate is expected to develop and lead data management plan education and consultation services for PNNL's research community. The candidate will provide 1:1 consultation to researchers and be an advocate for the role data has in the scholarly publishing lifecycle. (Approximately 60% of the position will be involved in these tasks.)
The librarian will also be responsible for building relationships with PNNL's scientists and engineers that enable opportunities to provide support directly to research projects. Examples of support include literature searches, journal targeting, and bibliometric reporting. A strong candidate will have superb communication skills, a record of self-motivated relationship building with their primary audience, and innovative and creative examples of developing and leading educational opportunities using in-person and electronic formats. (Approximately 30% of the position will be involved in these tasks.)
In addition to these responsibilities, this position will cross-train with the Electronic Resources Librarian on some tasks that provide technical support and troubleshooting for management and delivery of e-resources, including their integration in the ExLibris' Alma environment. (Approximately 10% of the position will be involved in these tasks.)
* Conducts searches of literature; analyzes, synthesizes, and evaluates data; extracts pertinent information; and prepares results/products of material searched via analytical summaries, bibliographic libraries, and bibliometric reports.
* Implements and trains customers in use of continuously evolving technologies that deliver information to research customers.
* Keeps abreast of developments in areas of interest to the company and regularly consults with researchers and other information users to ensure maximum usefulness and service.
* Maintains extensive knowledge of literature resources, publishers and vendors, scholarly publishing, publishing trends, bibliometric tools, and national standards for information exchange and authority control.
* Supports access to electronic resources through ExLibris' Alma.
* Acquires and maintains expertise in trends within research data management and digital curation, including research data management plans.
The ability to telework is optional. Optional permanent remote work location may be considered. Periodic travel would be required.

Minimum Qualifications
This position will be filled at the Research Librarian 2 or Research Librarian 3 level depending on the skills of the selected candidate.
Associate Senior Research Librarian, Data Management Level 2:
* Master's degree from an accredited program in Library and Information Science by start date AND one year of experience.
* Leads specific tasks within projects to meet scope, schedule, and budget.
* Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
* Assumes technical responsibility for a well-defined task often involving more than one person.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Demonstrated strong service orientation and skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Research Librarian, Data Management Level 3
* Master's degree from an accredited program in Library and Information Science AND three years of experience
* Effective team builder at the project level.
* Manages small to moderate projects or major project tasks.
* Contributes to the completion of specific projects.
* Leads technical decision-making at task level within a project.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Demonstrated strong service orientation and skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Senior Research Librarian, Data Management, Level 2
* Demonstrated knowledge of research data management, data curation, and data preservation principles and practices.
* Knowledge of data management plan requirements for U.S. government agencies and leading science funding organizations.
* Knowledge of data repositories and public data sets.
* Undergraduate degree in science or engineering
Research Librarian, Data Management, Level 3, in addition to Level 2:
* Experience providing research data literacy/management consultation and education.
* Experience providing library reference services to a range of audiences, including scientists, engineers, and information technologists.
* Knowledge or experience in Electronic Resources Management in a library setting.
* Knowledge or experience with Ex Libris' Alma and Primo.
* Undergraduate or graduate degree in science or engineering and/or post-master's certificate in a data-focused area (e.g. data curation, data science)
