Summary:
This workshop will provide an overview of mind mapping, a technique for
visually organizing information and ideas. Mind maps are an efficient way
to track skills and experiences to support job preparation or career
transition. Participants will be led through a mind mapping exercise using
recent job announcements.
Presenter bio:
Dr. Africa S. Hands is assistant professor in the Master of Library Science
program at East Carolina University. Her research interests include public
library service to underserved populations, college literacy library
services, and the experiences of first-generational MLIS students. She
participated in the inaugural ALA Career Development Facilitator (CDF)
training, is a certified professional coach, and has volunteered with NMRT
as a resume reviewer. Dr. Hands received her MLIS from San José State
University and PhD from Queensland University of Technology. She is the
author of Successfully Serving the College Bound (ALA Editions, 2015).
