joining our team at Rod Library! We are looking for two creative and
strategic Associate University Librarians, to lead our Content Discovery
and Learning and Research Divisions. Due to a retirement and an internal
promotion the two positions are open at the same time.  Rod Library is at
the heart of the University of Northern Iowa and is home to a dynamic group
of faculty and staff dedicated to student success. The Cedar Valley in
northeastern Iowa is a vibrant community with a thriving arts scene;
abundant outdoor recreation including over 110 miles of paved, soft, and
water trails; and a low cost of living.

The University of Northern Iowa's Rod Library seeks a collaborative and
visionary individual to serve as its Associate University Librarian,
Learning and Research. Rod Library, located at the heart of campus, serves
more than 12,000 students, faculty, and staff at one of three public
universities in Iowa. The Library includes the UNI Museum and the HNI
Corporation Instructional Resources & Technology Services (IRTS), which is
located in the Schindler Education Center. The Library is committed to
supporting student success, diversity and inclusion, campus vitality, and
community engagement, as outlined in its strategic plan.



The Associate University Librarian will provide leadership and strategic
direction for the library's Learning and Research Division, one of three
library divisions. The division includes information literacy instruction,
outreach, reference, the library’s liaison program, the Learning Commons,
and the library’s unique resource collections: Fine and Performing Arts,
UNI Museum, Special Collections and University Archives, HNI
Corporation Instructional
Resources & Technology Services (IRTS), and Youth. The division contains a
total of 21 faculty and staff. The position reports to the Dean of Library
Services.



This is a full-time tenure eligible administrative faculty position at the
rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The successful candidate's record
must demonstrate professional accomplishments that warrant this
appointment.



This position will be responsible for:



developing the vision and strategic direction and providing leadership for
the Learning and Research Division;



supervising and supporting unit coordinators, selected tenured and
tenure-track faculty, and professional & scientific staff;



fostering an environment of collegiality, respect, trust, and teamwork;



monitoring and evaluating trends and developments in librarianship relevant
to the division;



building productive relationships with internal and external partners;



serving as a member of the library's Executive Management Team and Dean's
Advisory Group;



participating in appropriate professional associations;



serving on library, university, and professional committees;



and engaging in research, scholarship, and creative work.

ALA-accredited Master's degree in library or information science or
international equivalent required.



Required qualifications include:



Increasing responsibilities in positions relating to any of the following
areas: information literacy instruction, outreach, reference, a library’s
unique resource collections;



at least three years of experience managing or supervising the work of
librarians and/or staff in an academic library;



evidence of competence in strategic planning and collaborative
decision-making in a rapidly changing environment;



demonstrated skills in leadership, oral and written communication, and
creative problem solving;



demonstrated ability to foster an environment of collegiality, respect,
trust, and teamwork;



demonstrated knowledge and understanding of trends relevant to any of the
areas of the division;



and a  record suitable for appointment at the Associate Professor rank or
higher.



Preferred Qualifications include:



Experience supporting and/or mentoring tenured and tenure-track faculty;



professional experience in archives and/or museums;



demonstrated experience in effectively implementing new technologies to
improve services;



experience with data-informed decision making;



and demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.



Not all preferred qualifications must necessarily be met to be a successful
candidate.



Salary:  $84,000.00 to commensurate.
