Theme: "Collection development in the era of open access: impacts of open access business models and open access resources on library collection development"

The IFLA Acquisition and Collection Development Section<https://www.ifla.org/acquisition-collection-development> invites proposals for paper presentations at the IFLA World Library and Information Congress<https://2020.ifla.org/>, Dublin, Ireland, August 15-21 2020.

As more and more resources are available open access (OA), libraries face new challenges and opportunities. One of these challenges is about defining open access. We would like to start from a holistic understanding including main "colours" - green, gold and platinum. Other challenges are about making open access material a part of the collection development workflow. In many parts of the world, the open access publishing market is changing very quickly, with many different types of OA publishing models and infrastructure. We will seek to understand and get overview of different business models and their long term impact on library budget and workflows.

We will explore the impact of OA on collection development in libraries through a two-hour open session. We invite submissions related to OA, and particularly welcome case studies from institutions or recent consortia that have experienced one of the following topics.

Possible topics may include:
· Integration of OA resources into the workflows of collection development
· Challenges with regard to selection, retrieval, visibility, support, evaluation, long-term preservation etc. of OA resources
· Specific examples of best practices regarding the handling of new OA offerings and agreements
· Case studies on good collaboration within consortia or between publishers and libraries
· New skills about handling OA resources generally and new and emerging business models and funding structures and sources specifically
· Open access collection building as a global challenge
