Transitioning a depository map collection from print to electronic

Kansas State University is facing a reduction in space for our map collection.
We are preparing to transition our depository map collection from a largely
print to electronic format.

Have any other libraries had experience doing this? Are there any issues you
ran into? What are the pros and cons?

What resources did you use to help you in the process?

Have you done any weeding projects for your print map collections?  Any issues
and what resources did you use?

Would you be willing to share any documentation for this process?

Do you have a map collection development policy you would be willing to share?
