is intended for catalogers who have little or no experience with rare and
unique materials but who nonetheless find themselves faced with a rare or
unique collection. The presenter will share general archival principles,
best practices, and tips for creating finding aids and converting those to
MARC records. This webinar is a companion to Special Collections
Cataloging: Monographs.
Learning outcomes:
The attendees of this webinar will be able to recognize and use the MARC
fields specific to manuscript collections and use a crosswalk to create a
MARC record from a finding aid.
Who should attend?
Catalogers of all levels who are beginners when it comes to special
collections and creating MARC records for manuscript collections.
Presenter:
Heather Perez is the Special Collections Librarian at Stockton University
in Galloway, New Jersey. As a lone arranger, she oversees all operations of
the collections, including acquisitions, processing, cataloging, and
reference. An archivist for 12 years, previously she worked at a public
