Nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 RUSA John Sessions Memorial Award, given by the American Library Association's Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) and sponsored by the Department for Professional Employees, AFL-CIO.

The RUSA John Sessions Memorial Award, established in 1981, recognizes a library or library system that has made a significant effort to work with the labor community and by doing so has brought recognition to the history and contribution of the labor movement to the development of the United States. Such efforts may include outreach projects to local labor unions; establishment of, or significant expansion of, special labor collections; initiation of programs of special interest to the labor community; or other library activities that serve the labor community.

Self-nominations are welcome. Applications must be received by
Friday, January 5, 2018. Applications may include letters of recommendation and supporting materials.

The criteria for "significant effort" will be judged by such factors as feedback from labor community members, documentation of relevant service/collection establishment or expansion, measurable impact of programs, influence on others, and/or creative and innovative concepts.
