*Professional Practice Series: Building, Enriching, and Maintaining
Relationships*
Relationships can play important roles in our professional lives. They can
help us navigate various landscapes and support us through difficult and
challenging stages. They exist in many forms, and at many levels – from
mentors, to colleagues, to supervisors. There are people we work closely
with, and those we may never meet in person. There are relationships we
seek out, and those that find us. They all have purpose and meaning.

During this interactive session, we will explore the various roles that
relationships play across our careers. We will come up with strategies and
tools to help us form, maintain, and enrich these connections; we will
discuss differences between virtual and face-to-face relationships; and we
will talk about the value of narrative in developing confidence and
understanding. We will also look at how to navigate overlapping networks to
develop visibility and create an effective professional profile. Bring a
notebook for journaling, and ideas and questions to share.

Join the ACRL/NY New Librarians’ Discussion Group and Mentoring Program for
an exploration of this topic and networking with colleagues! Refreshments
will be served.
