Hello,
I hope this is an appropriate group to post this to - (I mistakenly posted to the ALCTS forum first! Oops!) Are there any small community college collection development people on this list that buy books for more than one campus? We don't use any vendor software like BTOL or GOBI, and purchase individual titles through Amazon. We don't have approval plans or blanket orders. I do most of the ordering on our main campus. I use a combination of knowledge of the stacks, knowledge of different assignment needs in classes / faculty I've collaborated with, and suggestions from / difficulties voiced by those faculty. I've recently been given the responsibility of purchasing titles for our satellite campus 100 miles away. Since I never see the stacks or the faculty, and never participate in the classes there, does anyone have any idea where I can start? I've browsed that campus's online class catalog, and I have a rough idea of what the stacks there hold already, because I weeded there this last year for about 3 quarters.
Any suggestions would be fantastic! Thanks.
