The September issue of CD HotList: New Releases for Libraries has been posted and is (as always) freely available at http://cdhotlist.com. This month, the Classical section focuses entirely on vocal music, from medieval Russian plainchant to 21st-century choral works, with baroque and Renaissance vespers services and English choral anthems in between. We also feature a newly-discovered Bill Evans Trio recording, a new solo album from Fred Hersch, a reissue from country-soul pioneer Arthur Alexander, a new series of Stax compilations, previously-unissed radio recordings by Jo Stafford and Rosemary Clooney, a riotous collaboration between Subatomic Sound System and the notorious Lee “Scratch” Perry, and oh, so much more.
