The University Libraries at Western Michigan University seeks candidates for
the tenure-track, fiscal-year position of Cataloging and Metadata Librarian.
The Cataloging and Metadata Librarian provides vision and leadership for
bibliographic metadata practices and policies at WMU Libraries and prepares
the catalog for the future of bibliographic description. This position directs
staff and is responsible for consultation and oversight of metadata creation
and cataloging (MARC and non-MARC) at all levels, in all formats and for all
library collections including Rare Books and Special Collections, University
Archives and Regional History Collections. This position is responsible for
exploring new standards in metadata, linked data, the semantic web and
regional and national systems of print repositories.
A master’s degree from a graduate program accredited by the American Library
Association (ALA) and relevant professional experience are required. Please
