Detailed
Information:


Faculty librarians at Delaware County Community
College are responsible for providing reference and research instruction
to
students, faculty, and staff.  This includes staffing reference
according
to departmental needs; providing individual, group, and classroom
instruction;
and developing instructional material that supports the overall
Information
Literacy program.  The User Experience and Web Presence Librarian
provides
strategic planning, oversight, and maintenance of Library/the Learning
Commons’
virtual presence to ensure students, faculty, staff, and community needs
are
met.  This includes developing an overall strategy to maintain and
expand
the Library/Learning Commons’ web presence on the public website,
College
portal, and in the learning management system in collaboration with the
other
faculty librarians and Learning Commons staff.   The User Experience
and Web Presence Librarian will perform user needs and usability
assessments to
inform the innovation of Library and Learning Commons content in the
online
environment.  In addition to collection development responsibilities for
assigned academic departments, this librarian will serve as the
Library/Learning Commons liaison to the Online Learning Department to
address
the needs of all online students and faculty.


The College, founded in 1967, is an accredited,
associate degree-granting institution of higher education serving
Delaware and
Chester counties. It is the seventh largest post-secondary institution
in
undergraduate enrollment in the Greater Philadelphia region, serving
nearly
27,000 credit and non-credit students annually with a comprehensive
array of
programs, including computer-based and distance-learning classes.


Primary responsibilities will include but are not
limited to providing reference and research instruction based on the
staffing
needs of the Library/Learning Commons.  Instruct students, faculty, and
staff in the general use of library materials and accessing online
information
resources.  Provide reference and research instruction in-person in the
Library/Learning Commons, and virtually through chat and email services.

Create library-specific educational material including handouts, guides,
and
tutorials; Instruction: Provide individual, group, and classroom
information
literacy and research instruction in all modalities, including
course-integrated
classes, online and in-person workshops, and other formats based on the
staffing needs of the Library/Learning Commons.  Create educational
materials to support instructional activities; Collection Development:
Contribute to the collection development activities of the
Library/Learning
Commons.  Work with assigned academic departments including the Online
Learning Department and other campus offices to identify, select,
acquire, and
ensure the availability of relevant and related materials.  Set
priorities
for the assigned academic departments and other campus offices related
to the
Library’s collection.  Build and maintain the Library’s collection in an
evolving academic and scholarly environment; Web Presence: In
collaboration
with the other faculty librarians, Learning Commons staff, and the
College’s
web services/PR departments, maintain an attractive, full-featured,
dynamic
Library/Learning Commons website to support the mission of being a 24/7
provider of academic support services to the College community.  Develop
and implement web applications, leveraging the data exchange and web
service
capabilities of the Learning Commons and College information systems, to
enhance the internal and student-facing work of the Library/Learning
Commons.
Develop a strategy to integrate this content into the College’s learning
management system, portal, and public website in collaboration with
faculty
librarian colleagues; User Experience: Design and cooand Web accessibility testing of the Library/Learning Commons’ Web
presence,
including the public website, College portal, and the College’s learning
management system.  Liaise with Online Learning faculty and staff to
ensure online students have equitable access to all the library’s
services, including:
knowledge collection, research /reference instruction, and services such
as
document delivery.  Work with students, faculty, and staff to gather
appropriate data through the Library/Learning Commons’ systems. 
Contribute to, and comply with, relevant guidelines, including but not
limited
to data governance and privacy.

Qualifications



The ideal candidate must have a Master’s degree in
Library Science from an ALA accredited school and a minimum of two years’
experience in an academic library setting providing reference and
instruction;
Ability to meet set deadlines; Familiarity with Web accessibility
standards;
Proficiency with HTML, CSS and Wed scripting languages to customize the
Library
and Learning Commons’ Web presence and facilitate data exchange between
information systems; Demonstrated experience using the suite of
Springshare
products, including LibGuides, CMS, LibInsight, LibWizard, and
LibAnswers;
Experience working with a College Learning Management System; Ability to
work
with a diverse staff and community college constituency;
Service-oriented,
positive attitude, and good communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to
work collaboratively as a member of a team; Ability to work
independently under
minimal direct supervision; Demonstrable commitment to professional
development, including but not limited to the areas of online learning,
Web
development, and assessing user experiences; Experience with web design
projects demonstrated through a portfolio. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience
working on large-scale team-based projects; Experience integrating
library
content into a Learning Management System such as Canvas; Familiarity
with
usability testing and user experience design principles; Familiarity
with
Drupal; Familiarity with principles of data minimization, patron
privacy, and
data governance.
