General Summary:
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Professor of Library Science / Collection Management Librarian and Coordinator of Information Services. The Assistant Professor / Collection Management Librarian and Coordinator of Information Services will co-manage collection development for the UNG Libraries and coordinate and supervise librarians who provide services at the Information Desk.  Other duties include teaching library credit and general instruction classes and providing reference and circulation assistance.  Occasional night and weekend work is required.  This position will report to the Head Librarian-Gainesville Campus.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
The Assistant Professor / Collection Management Librarian and Coordinator of Information Services will:

*         Work closely with their counterpart at the Dahlonega Campus to coordinate and implement collection development and management to insure library resource support for UNG programs.

*         Serve as a selector for assigned departments.

*         Train, schedule, and supervise librarians serving at the Information Desk in keeping with library and university policies and procedures; participate in the schedule for the Information Desk.

*         Facilitate communication between reference and access services

*         Teach library instruction for-credit courses and one-hour general library instruction classes.

*         Serve on College, University System, and/or community committees and participate in professional development activities.

*         Other duties as assigned by the Head Librarian-Gainesville Campus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

*         Must have superior knowledge of collection management tools and procedures

*         Ability to coordinate collection development efforts across campuses

*         Supervisory and library project management skills and experience

*         High level of competency with computers; superior organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

*         Strong oral and written communication skills

*         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

*         Demonstrated commitment to library instruction and to students

*         Must be able to stand push/pull book trucks up to 100lbs max, lift up to 25 pounds.

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:

*         MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution

*         Two years of professional library experience, academic library preferred; supervisory experience.
