The ACRL Resources for College Libraries Editorial Board is sponsoring the program Collections at the Crossroads: Revising and Re-Envisioning the Core Subject Collection at the 2016 Annual Conference in Orlando.
When: Saturday, June 25, 10:30-11:30 AM
Where: Orange County Convention Center, Room W108
Program Description: What is the role of core subject collections in a rapidly-changing collection development landscape and how do shifts in liaison roles, acquisitions, and assessment all factor into this conversation? Featuring speakers from community college, undergraduate, and research institutions, panelists will address current practices, historical benchmarks, and future trends in using a core subject collection such as Resources for College Libraries to grow, evaluate, and weed library holdings.
This program will discuss issues currently relevant to academic libraries including: how to ensure credible and valuable collections based on qualitative measures as well as usage metrics; using a core collection in combination with evidence-based, patron-driven, and/or consortial purchasing plans; and how to support the subject curriculum even without dedicated subject bibliographers.
Speakers:
Neal Baker, Moderator, RCL Editorial Board Chair
Anne Doherty, Speaker, RCL Project Editor, ACRL/Choice
Mark Emmons, Speaker, University of New Mexico
Chisato Uyeki, Speaker, Mt. San Antonio Community College
We hope to see you there!
