Position Description
Position Title:  Electronic Resources Librarian
Brief Description:  The Electronic Resources Librarian takes a leadership role in the management of electronic resources at Speed Library.  This position is responsible for connecting library electronic resource collections to our MC user community.  Works from a collaborative and service-oriented perspective with a vision to manage and direct in making Speed Library resources readily visible and available.
Responsibilities include:

*         Manages the lifecycle of licensed electronic and print resources. These responsibilities include: setting up database trials, assisting in license interpretation, adding resource links to the library website, and work with vendors and users to remedy violations or breaches of contract

*         Collect and analyze usage data from vendor/publisher sources and create reports to support purchase, renewal, and cancellation decisions

*         Work closely with technical services to ensure smooth workflow in cataloging of  electronic resources, including online journals, electronic books, databases, and integrating websites

*         Works closely with technical services in all periodical maintenance and management including subscription (print and online) renewals

*         Maintenance of accurate, timely holdings data in the library's knowledge bases, including the link resolver, integrated library system, proxy server, OCLC, and other systems

*         Troubleshooting patron connection problems with resources

*         Corresponds with publishers/vendors and monitors their offerings of e-resources; advises library staff appropriately

*         Keeps current knowledge of trends and applications in electronic resource management

*         Works closely with subject librarians and acquisitions staff to support e-collection development

*         Maintains library website

*         Participates with Reference Desk rotation schedule; some nights and weekends.

*         Assists Reference Librarians with instruction as needed.

*         Creates and maintains library tutorials

*         Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education Required: MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program.
Experience: Preferred - Two years post-MLS professional library experience.

Context: Founded in 1826, Mississippi College is a private, comprehensive, Christian university affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention. MC offers over 80 undergraduate majors, 15 graduate programs and has an enrollment of approximately 5,100 students. Leland Speed Library is viewed as a vital part of the academic program of the university.  The main campus is located in Clinton, MS which is about 10 miles west of the capital city of Jackson.
