Davidson College Library seeks an enthusiastic and creative librarian to join our Research, Teaching, and Collections department, a newly created team of information literacy librarians, archivists, and a special collections librarian. The Collection Development Librarian should be interested in exploring innovative ways of providing information resources to our campus constituents and be eager to collaborate with other librarians, faculty, and staff educators on student learning. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, interested in the impact of emerging technologies and new forms of scholarship on collections in libraries, and excited about developing a collection across the humanities, sciences, and social sciences.
Responsibilities
· Coordinates the assessment of the library's collections and leads in the implementation of projects resulting from the collections assessment program.
· Develops and maintains relationships with vendors and publishers in order to raise awareness about new and alternative resources among librarians and faculty.
· Helps to facilitate the library's liaison program across all fields taught at the college. Additionally acts as a liaison to one or more academic departments.
· Partners with librarians, faculty, and staff educators to create innovative and meaningful learning opportunities for students.
· Monitors national tends, advances, and best practices in resource sharing, e-resources, collection assessment, and collection management and evaluates the potential application of these initiatives to the Davidson College Library.
Required Qualifications
· Master's degree in Library/Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association
· At least three years of collection development experience in an academic library
· Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop relationships and work collegially with students, faculty, staff, and vendors

· Demonstrated experience doing collection development in more than one academic field
· Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse groups
· Commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
This is a full-time, 12-month position. The anticipated start date is no later than summer 2016. Review of applications will begin on March 14, 2016, and will continue until the position is filled.
