The University Libraries at Appalachian State University seeks a
forward-looking, innovative, and collaborative Associate Dean to lead in a
dynamic team-based, service-oriented organization. The successful candidate
will be a creative and analytical thinker with a keen sense of strategic
direction and innovative approaches that can lead the newly created group
of liaison teams. As one of two Associate Deans reporting to the Dean of
Libraries, the successful candidate will work closely with the other
associate dean and library leadership to cultivate an environment that
prepares students to lead purposeful lives as engaged global citizens who
understand their responsibilities in creating a sustainable future for all.
This is a new position that will oversee three library teams: Learning and
Research Services, Collection Management, and the Music Library. Primary
responsibilities of these teams focus on outreach to academic and
non-academic departments including research, instruction, public service,
and collection management. The libraries are in the midst of a renewal plan
which re-envisions our spaces and services. We seek a dynamic library
leader who understands current issues in academic libraries and higher
education and can lead library personnel in a collaborative, team based
environment.
