Dear Colldv-l Readers,
Big changes to colldv list
After August 17, 2015, the Colldv list will transition to an ALCTS server
and will be managed by the Collection Management Section (CMS). Posting
will be direct to the list and not through a moderator. The new list
software is more user-friendly and allows users to easily subscribe or
unsubscribe. In the next few days you may begin to see messages from the
new list as it starts up.
The "@USC.edu" list will cease after August 17. Postings sent to the old
list will be returned to the sender with instructions explaining how to post
to the new list. After a few months, @USC.edu will cease to be monitored
and any submitted messages will go into the abyss.
What do you need to know?
1. New list email subject prefix you will see in your email is:
[ALCTS-colldv]
2. The new list home webpage is: http://lists.ala.org/sympa/info/colldv
3. Subscriber list. Most readers will need to do nothing to begin
receiving posts from the new list. The subscriber list has been transitioned
to the new ALCTS list. There will be glitches of course, the roster has
3000 names. If the list seems to have lost you, you may resubscribe at the
url above. Similarly, you may unsubscribe there. Give the new list a few
days after today to see activity.
4. New Postings: Send your posting - beginning now to the new list at
this address: colldv_at_lists.ala.org
5. Moderators. The new list will be overseen by the current CMS
members-at-large. The members-at-large performing these tasks at this time
are Robin Champieux and Betsy Appleton. They may be reached for questions
about the new list via: colldv-request_at_lists.ala.org
6. Archives: The new list will begin to build its own archive at the list
home webpage above. Eric Lease Morgan will continue to provide the historic
archive and add current accessions at his site:

Lynn Sipe at the University of Southern California created colldv-l in the
mid-1990s as a forum for collection development librarians. I joined as
co-moderator in 1999. The original list runs on an antiquated USC listproc
server; Lynn stepped away from the list in 2013; and I am now ready to do
the same. It is time to find the list a new home and ALCTS-CMS is a logical
owner. Lynn and I thank ALCTS Executive Director Keri Cascio and the CMS
leadership for supporting the list going forward.
If you have questions, contact me or the new moderators.
Best regards,
John Abbott & Lynn Sipe

My guess is that something weird happened when the list moved to a new
server.
