Hi All,
At Appalachian State, we are in the process of deaccessioning
large portions of our periodical collection.
The University Recycling Office called to say they could take no more
discarded bound periodicals. No recycling vendor wants the 30 tons
waiting to be hauled away. The reasons given are vendors not
wanting clay-coated paper; spine glues; buckram covers. All
of these lower the price/desirability of these materials. If not
recycled, the other option is the landfill.
Any other library face this difficulty and find a solution?
Thanks, John
