TERM POSITION / SOCIAL SCIENCES LIBRARIAN
The University Libraries at Seton Hall University invite applications
for the position of Social Sciences Librarian to provide research and
instructional services. This is a term library faculty position –
renewable up to five (5) years. This position will provide the full
range of liaison, collection development and instructional services for
Political Science/Public Affairs, the School of Diplomacy and
International Relations, and History; will participate fully in the full
range of Reference responsibilities up to 10-11 hours/week, with
assigned nights and weekends; participates in the Instruction Program,
providing approximately 20-35 sessions per year plus tours, research
consultations, etc.; assists in other areas as
available/appropriate/needed; participates in some department and campus
service.
Qualifications: MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program; a demonstrated
background of strong relevance to the liaison/bibliographer subject
areas noted above; demonstrated working knowledge of print and
electronic information resources and effective search strategies with
skills in the use of presentation software and bibliographic citation
software; demonstrated ability to keep abreast of emerging technology
and information resources and knowledge of current and emerging trends,
issues, and best practices in academic libraries; demonstrated
interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a diverse student
body, faculty, staff and the public, handling queries, suggestions and
complaints; excellent organizational, written and oral communication
skills and the capability to work in a collegial environment; must be
able to work one night per week and weekend rotation. Special
Consideration will be given to experience in the areas noted above at
the college level, and/or a relevant subject masters.
