ALCTS Webinar: RDA Basics for Music Materials

Wednesday, April 16 , 2014


All webinar sessions are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, 
12 Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.


Description

This webinar focuses primarily on the identification of RDA concepts and 
elements specific to the description of music materials encoded in 
MARC21. Attendees will


  *

    gain an understanding of the differences between AACR2 and RDA
    cataloging for music materials;

  *

    be able to locate RDA instructions pertaining to music materials in
    the RDA Toolkit;

  *

    identify new MARC21 fields created to accommodate RDA elements; and

  *

    learn about music cataloging resources that supplement RDA
    instructions pertaining to music materials.

  *


Who Should Attend?

Cataloging staff who are non-music specialists, or that only 
occasionally catalog music materials.


Presenter

Mary Huissmann is music/media original cataloger at the University of 
Minnesota and has worked extensively with music cataloging. She is an 
active member of the Music Library Association and the Online 
Audiovisual Catalogers (currently serving as Cataloging Policy Committee 
Chair). Mary has been a member of the MLA/OLAC Funnel for the National 
Libraries RDA Test, the MLA RDA Implementation Task Force, and served as 
project leader and trainer for the University of Minnesota's RDA 
implementation project.
