System Libraries Resource Development Director
Position Announcement
Texas A&M University Libraries seeks a talented and dynamic professional
to join the Texas A&M University Libraries in the new position of System
Libraries Resource Development Director. This is a non-tenure track
clinical faculty position with appointment at the rank of Clinical
Associate Professor or above. Successful candidates will be expected to
have engagement in professional service activities, consistent with the
Libraries and Universitys requirements for promotion.
Reporting to the Dean of the University Libraries and working in the
Information Resources unit in the Evans Library & Library Annex on the
main campus of Texas A&M University, the System Libraries Resource
Development Director is responsible for the licensing and subscription
management of electronic resources for the Texas A&M University System
Library Consortium (TAMU System Library Consortium). This position
provides leadership for the review and negotiation of cooperative
agreements for electronic resources. In consultation with TAMU
Libraries, Contracts Administration, and the Office of General Counsel,
the System Libraries Resource Development Director reviews and
negotiates digital resources licenses to ensure compliance with
established federal and state guidelines, including copyright and
accessibility guidelines. Responsibilities include investigating and
comparing vendor products and offers, establishing and maintaining
effective vendor relations, and maintaining an Electronic Management
System for cooperative agreements. This position also manages the setup
and maintenance of access records for existing and new cooperative
agreements and is responsible for resolving electronic resources access
issues and communicating with system libraries, vendors, and publishers
regarding such issues. The librarian in this position is a member of the
TAMU Libraries' Electronic Resources Licensing Team and supervises a
staff member, who is responsible for maintaining shared instances in the
link resolver
Required Qualifications:
· Master of Library Science degree (or equivalent) from an ALA
Accredited graduate program.
· 3 - 5 years of professional library experience, with at least two
years working in electronic acquisitions and/or collection development,
e-resource management, and/or contracts administration.
· Professional knowledge and work experience with academic online
resources and services.
· Professional knowledge of the concepts and issues related to the
electronic resources lifecycle.
· Knowledge of copyright law, digital rights management, and application
of fair use.
· Familiarity with electronic resources product market and publishers
licensing and business models.
· Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication, leadership,
and analytical problem solving.
· Evidence of ability to adapt to change and work in a collaborative
service-oriented environment.
· Experience or familiarity with assessment of library resources.
· Knowledge of ADA laws and standards in regard to electronic
information resources.
· Successful supervisory and management experience.
· Familiarity in working with consortia.
· Ability and willingness to travel.
Desired Qualifications:
· Experience negotiating licenses on behalf of a library consortium or
academic library.
· Juris Doctor from accredited law school or legal background.
· Experience managing or implementing an Electronic Resources Management
System and link resolver.
· Experience with or understanding of emerging information technologies
and applications.

Salary/Benefits/Rank: Faculty rank and salary are commensurate with
qualifications and experience; minimum starting salary will be $55,500.

retirement plans including TIAA-CREF; paid holidays and vacation; no
state or local income tax. Funding is available for professional travel
and development activities.
