ebook donations?

Well, you’ll need to read the license agreement the donor signed when
they purchased the eBook. I seriously doubt there are very many eBook
vendors that would allow this kind of “gift.”

Here is what our copyright librarian (Brad Nichols) had to say:

Yes, most likely the license would preclude giving or even lending your
e-book:

While the Librarian of Congress has ruled that you can jailbreak a phone
– you cannot jailbreak a tablet such as an I-Pad or Kindle – although
the those with disabilities are allowed to do so is my understanding – I
will have to look into this further.

There was/is a site called Redigi that allowed one to resell your music
downloads but was sued and lost the case (I believe it is on appeal now)

This is a major problem with e-books – despite the convenience that they
provide – it’s more like a car lease than car ownership …
