original question- Knowledge Unlatched? From: Mary Hollerich

Has anyone else on this list been approached about joining Knowledge
Unlatched and, if so, what do you think of it? What factors will
influence your decision to join or not join? I wonder about the
program's scalability but am intrigued by it.

I haven't agreed just yet, but expect to sign on for the initial pilot.
The cost will be very low, as we would likely acquire all of these
titles in some other way and can subtract them from what we will pay KU.
I do have some concern about scalability of the workflow, if the title
list were to become much larger. My concerns about platform and
archiving have been solved by hosting agreements now reached with both
Hathi Trust and CLOCKSS. In the end, I am not sure this model will
prevail, but it may have a place among other funding and distribution
strategies, and the only way we'll know for sure is to see how the
experiment works.
