I'm new this year as well, but the previous librarian in this position
obtained the # of credits in each discipline and in a spreadsheet
allocated the percentages for the library based on the percentages for
the classes. Therefore, gen. ed. classes ended up w/ the highest
percentage b/c everyone has to take them.

But there seem to be more books published in those disciplines.

Good luck.

Although this Comprehensive Allocation Process
<http://libguides.northwestern.edu/CollectionsBudgets> encompasses all
formats within library collections, it can be adapted for calculating
allocation proportions per subject area exclusively for print-only
monographs. It is an allocation strategy that takes into account certain
variables related to the characteristics of your institution.

Hello, I am also newer in collection and working to bring a formal
allocation to our budget. This is a sample /(appended in web table.
-moderator)/ of what I put together for a fund, hoping to work through
it the next couple months and adapt it for our new FY budget. I used a
sample of circulation by item types and audience as a starting point for
these amounts.

I would also like to see more - please share whatever else you have!
