Good day, colleagues,
I am a new collection development librarian. I have been researching
academic library collection assessment over the last few weeks. I plan
to complete a plan/policy in order to complete an assessment of the
entire collection at my library. The summer is a great time to tackle
large scale projects because it's much slower at the library.
I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for
additional professional resources to consult and if your library has a
collection assessment plan/policy or any assessment/peer analysis
documents that you would be willing to share with me? I will be
eternally grateful for any insight you are willing to share with me.
I realize collection assessment is an ongoing project for most
libraries. This being the case, I am trying to figure out the best way
to accomplish this task for my library. I am consulting the following
resources in order to develop a project plan:
* Network of Alabama Academic Libraries Collection Assessment Manual -
2009
* Collection Assessment: A Look at the RLG Conspectus - 1991
* Surviving the Future: Academic Libraries, Quality & Assessment -
Munde & Marks 2009
* Outcomes Assessment in Your Library - Hernon & Dugan 2002 (published
by ALA)
* Strategic Planning in College Libraries - ACRL 2011
* ACRL Standards for Libraries in Higher Education - 2011
Many thanks for your help!
Best,
Rachael
