The Head of Collections Management leads, administers, and coordinates 
collection development activities and works with others to provide 
leadership of the cataloging and government documents unit and 
University Archives for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, 
Kraemer Family Library. This tenured or tenure-track position directs 
the Library's Collections Management operations including the selection, 
management, and acquisition of collections; develops and administers the 
Library's materials budget; works closely with Library Systems in the 
assessment of the integrated library systems by focusing on strategies 
that maximize the latest technologies; and directly supervises 3 
librarians, 1 exempt professional, and 1 classified staff person. As a 
member of the Library's Leadership Team, the Collections Management Head 
participates in general administrative decision-making, library 
management, strategic planning, and priority setting. This position 
reports to the Dean of the Library.

General duties include:
. Provides vision, leadership, and innovation for the department while 
managing human, financial, and other resources to ensure successful 
daily operations.
. Ensures efficient workflow and coordinates policies, procedures, and 
sustainable practices for acquisitions, including print, non-print, and 
e-resources.
. Shares responsibility with other members of the Library's Leadership 
Team for enhancing the vision of the Library as an exemplar of research, 
scholarship, learning, teaching, and collaboration.
. Develops library liaisons to make sure they are kept informed about 
the latest collection management initiatives and developments.
. Directly oversees the Acquisitions and Electronic Resources units 
consisting of 1 librarian, 1 professional exempt, and 2 classified staff.
. Works collaboratively with the Catalog and Metadata Librarian to 
provide leadership and management of the Cataloging and Government 
Documents unit consisting of 1 librarian, 1 professional exempt, and 1 
classified staff.
. Works with the Archives Librarian and Digital Repository Coordinator 
to strengthen the University Archives and develop the digital repository.
. Manages a collections budget of over $1.1 million and a collection of 
more than 1.2 million items.
. Participates in state-wide and University System consortial purchasing 
activities.
. Meets with vendors regarding library materials and negotiates 
contracts and licenses with vendors.
. Contributes to and is active in state, regional, and national 
meetings, conferences and workshops; reviews the professional 
literature; and networks with professional colleagues outside of the 
university to stay informed about developments and trends in collections 
services, technical services, and library systems.
. Develop professionally as a tenure track or tenured member of the 
academic community through such scholarly activities as research 
projects, publications, continuing education, and service to the 
profession, the Library, and the University.
. Compiles the Library's annual collections and acquisitions statistics 
for internal and external reports. Prepares reports for the university 
administration for a variety of purposes, including annual collections 
budget requests.
. Participates in the Reference Desk rotation for 8-10 hours/month.

The salary range for this position is: $70,000 -- $85,000

*Minimum Qualifications*

	

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
. A Master's degree in Library/Information Science or equivalent from an 
ALA-accredited program is required. Minimum of five (5) years of 
progressively responsible professional experience in an academic 
research library or comparable experience elsewhere;
. Demonstrated administrative excellence, including leadership, 
communication, and effective supervisory skills;
. Demonstrated knowledge of library materials budgets, including 
management and allocation of collections budgets;
. Experience working with vendors and negotiating licenses and contracts;
. Knowledge of significant trends and issues in technical services, 
collection management, and evolving modes of librarianship;
. Demonstrated familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS);
. Strong analytical and decision making skills; and
. Demonstrated record of research and professional activity appropriate 
for a tenure-track position.

. Significant record of participation in relevant professional 
organizations and a record of publication that warrants appointment at 
the Associate Professor or Professor rank;
