Dear Colldv-l Readers,
I am exercising my moderator's prerogative to push this out to the
list. I know that you 3000+ CD and Acq folk are among the best and the
brightest.
My institution is looking for a Dean of Libraries. The previous dean is
stepping down after 20 successful years of expanding the budget,
building a new main library, and reconfiguring staffing. Appalachian
State is recognized by Kiplinger's, US News, Forbes, etc. as one of the
top mid-size or comprehensive universities in the South and also ranks
highly nationally. The Library enjoys an excellent relationship with
Academic Affairs and the Provost. The Library is a collegial
environment with smart, hard-working library faculty and staff. Funding
cuts in the last few years have been difficult, but less draconian than
in many states. The budget appears to be stable, and there are fiscal
and personnel resources to pursue innovation.
You may or may not be interested in this position, but you likely know a
talented director, AD, or AUL who is a good leader and who is interested
in their next step. Please read the announcement at the link below
and/or forward the this email to those you know who may be interested.

Our first review of applications is in a month, and applications will be
accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
Many thanks,
John
