*P**osition Announcement--Scholarly Resources Librarian(search extended)*

Pepperdine University Libraries, based in Malibu, CA overlooking the 
Pacific Ocean, seeks an enthusiastic and experienced leader to manage a 
collaborative collection development program that supports teaching and 
learning. With a materials budget of over $1.3 million, this position 
advises the purchase of both electronic and print resources, engages 
students and faculty, and joins a team of forward-thinking librarians. 
This position works closely with the Instructional Design Librarian 
andreports to the Associate University Librarian for Information 
Resources, Collections, and Scholarly Communication.

*Responsibilities*: The Scholarly Resources Librarian coordinates 
librarians in collaborative collection development activities including 
assessment, selection, resource trials, de-selection, and outreach to 
faculty; monitors long-term collection development commitments such as 
approval plans, serial subscriptions, patron-driven acquisitions, and 
electronic purchases vs. leasing programs; negotiates licenses and 
contracts; develops good working relationships with vendors and 
consortia; communicates effectively with technical services and systems 
regarding acquisitions and access issues; manages the production and 
analysis of statistics relating to collections and their use, as well as 
comparative analysis with peer institutions; monitors trends in 
collection development in academic libraries; implements best practices 
to achieve library collection goals and objectives; and serves as a 
library liaison in assigned subject areas which includes teaching 
information literacy classes.

*Salary and Rank*: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. This 
is a full-time, ranked librarian position with generous insurance

*Qualifications*: /Required: /A master's degree from an ALA-accredited 
library school; at least three years of relevant experience in an 
academic library showing progressive responsibility in the area of 
collection development including management of materials budgets, vendor 
contracts, and licenses; the ability to lead and work within a 
collaborative environment; excellent analytical, organizational, and 
oral and written communication skills; proficiency with spreadsheets and 
analytical tools; excellent presentation and negotiation skills.//
