UMKC sits at America's creative crossroads and at the center of a

comprehensive research university library seeks candidates with vision,
energy, creativity, flexibility, and a strong commitment to library
services for the non-tenure track faculty position of Director of
Strategic Initiatives and Planning in the UMKC University Libraries.
·Reports to the Dean of Libraries;
·Provides leadership and ongoing management for the Digital Initiatives
Division;
·Leads the University Libraries, under the general direction of the
Dean, in long-range strategic planning,;
·Works with other directors to provide visionary direction for strategic
and digital initiatives in the areas of scholarly communications,
digital library, digital scholarship services, data curation,
electronic resources management, document delivery services, online
learning and services, Web and mobile services, and operational
productivity;
·Participates in the library's assessment initiatives and usability studies;
·Collaborates with colleagues at UM System and MOBIUS libraries, and
with campus, academic, and technology partners in joint initiatives;
·Continually analyzes management data for trends suggesting needed
changes or opportunities.
·Pursues personal professional development, and contributes to the
profession through local and national professional and scholarly activities.

*Required qualifications: *
·Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution;
·A minimum of seven (7) years of academic library management experience
in progressively responsible positions, including strategic planning,
budget planning, technology management, and digital initiatives expertise;
·Deep library information technology and digital library expertise and
extensive technology management experience;
·Proven record of success in administering and managing large projects;
·Ability to work positively and productively with diverse constituencies
in a rapidly changing environment;
·Familiarity with emerging trends in academic libraries and commitment
to implementing positive change, innovation, and new technologies that
are relevant to the UMKC Libraries;
·Understanding of the library role in the scholarly research environment
and in scholarly communications;
·A strong user service orientation;
·Exceptional interpersonal, communication skills, planning, and
organizational skills;
· Supervisory experience;
·Proven record of communicative, collegial, collaborative, and congenial
working relationship including thoughtful management of complex
workplace issues;
·Effective and proven process improvement skills and project management;
·Ability to manage multiple priorities calmly, effectively and within
deadlines;
·Evidence of professional initiative and mature judgment;
·Potential to meet promotion requirements in non-tenure track faculty
appointment.
*Preferred qualifications:*
·Additional graduate degree;
·Grant-writing experience;
·Library assessment experience;
·Experience with planning technology-rich learning spaces and library
space planning.
