ALCTS webinar: The Future of the Integrated Library System?
Date: August 1, 2012
All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11am Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1pm Central, and 2pm Eastern time.
Description: This webinar will examine the current state of Integrated
Library Systems and their declining relevance to the needs of libraries
and their patrons. It will also posit a comprehensive Knowledge
Management focus for libraries as well as a new way of thinking about
the discipline of librarianship.
Who should attend? Anyone with an interest in this topic can benefit
from this session and is welcome to participate.
Presenter: Walter Nelson works for RAND Corporation, where he provides
information support. He made a decision when computers were first
entering the workplace to focus on mastering and implementing
Information Technology. He has been the webmaster and systems
administrator for the RAND library, and has been instrumental in the
introduction of technologies like blogging and RSS to the corporation.
