The University of Minnesota University Libraries seeks strategic 
leadership for the position of Associate University Librarian (AUL) for 
Content and Collections.This new organizational division coalesces 
existing units and evolving functions associated with the full life 
cycle of knowledge resources to support the academic programs of the 
University and contribute to global scholarship and learning.Reporting 
to the University Librarian, the AUL is a member of the senior 
leadership of the Libraries and will play a lead role in fostering 
collaborative strategies to shape a robust and sustainable environment 
for scholarly content.

The position provides direct administrative oversight for four units and 
works across the organization to develop policies and protocols that 
enable and shape the work of discipline liaisons, access and technology 
specialists, and collection support personnel. The AUL contributes to 
the strategic development of local, regional, and national strategies in 
digitization and digital preservation and supports coordination of 
relevant licensing and collection management strategies for the 
University's coordinate campus libraries.In shaping Libraries' programs 
to contribute digital content to the broader scholarly community, the 
AUL plays a critical role in campus outreach to assess needs, develop 
capacities, and structure models for funding and rights.

  As a member of the Libraries' leadership, the AUL contributes to 
organizational planning, resource development, and policy. S/he serves 
as sponsor to Libraries cross-divisional initiatives and represents the 
organization in relevant consortial and collaborative venues to develop 
collective strategies for efficient and progressive multi-institutional 
program development.

  Required qualifications include ALA accredited Masters in 
Library/Information Science or equivalent combination of advanced degree 
and relevant experience; substantial experience within a research 
library (or related) environment, including administrative experience; 
and demonstrated knowledge of emergent library roles and collection issues.
