Interesting question. I don't ask for reports, but in the last couple
years we've started writing a Collection Development Plan for each
department. It includes some information that demonstrates that the
librarian has been an involved selector in the past. I don't know if
the listserv can take attachments, so I'll paste the template below.
Size of book budget
Spending on books last year
Circulation over the last year (overall), any particular subjects that
you've noticed get heavy use
Strengths and weaknesses of current collection
How does journal spending compare to enrollment
Who has authority to approve purchases for the department? (this is
usually a dept chair)
Anything specific to look for, titles, publishers, etc.
Recent new programs, areas, or faculty
Preference for format -- books v journals, online v print
Particularly useful places to look for book recommendations? (e.g.,
publishers, awards)
What has been recently removed (journals or books)
Accreditation needs
Are parts of the book budget committed to yearly subscriptions?
Areas that need to be weeded
Faculty research interests

Hi,
Do any of you request annual reports from subject liaison
librarians? Asking for information re: their projects, interactions
with faculty etc. ???
If you'd be willing to share your template, that would be great.
Thanks,
