I am stumped and wondered if you had any ideas for me. I hope this is
appropriate for this list, sorry if not. Here is the problem:
I've relied heavily on Books in Print alerts for Collection Development.
I run a search for a particular author and then set up an RSS feed to
alert me when anything new is published by that author. In response to
a survey I recently sent out about collection development, the faculty
sent me a lot more author names to keep an eye out for, so I want to
make new RSS feeds.
I do a search in BiP, click on the RSS icon, and try to create a feed.
When I go to add it to Google Reader, it does not recognize the feed.
(This used to work in the past but doesn't anymore.) I tried changing
feed readers to Bloglines. It also doesn't recognize the feed. I
thought maybe I could get a feed from somewhere other than Books in
Print, so I tried Amazon but they don't let you create an RSS feed from
the results of a search. The Library of Congress catalog does not
either, and neither does WorldCat.
I contacted both Books in Print and Bloglines asking if they had
suggestions and I haven't heard back yet.
Can you think of any other way I can get alerts when a specific author
publishes a book?
Thanks!
