*ALCTS webinar: Promoting Institutional Repositories on and off Campus*

*Date: November 30, 2011*
All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11am Pacific, noon 
Mountain, 1pm Central, and 2pm Eastern time.

*Description*: This webinar will consider strategies for promoting the 
institutional repository to on campus and off campus constituencies. 
Results of surveys carried out at institutions with IRs will be reviewed 
and information based on the speaker's experience at Thomas Jefferson 
University will be provided.

*Learning Outcomes:*
- to provide practical guidelines for promoting the IR
- to offer suggestions on best practices for promoting the IR

*Audience*: anyone with an institutional repository or other 
service/product that they wish to promote to a campus audience

*Presenter: Dan Kipnis* is the Senior Education Services Librarian at 
the Thomas Jefferson University's Scott Memorial Library where his 
responsibilities include implementing and managing the university's 
institutional repository, Jefferson Digital Commons 
(http://jdc.jefferson.edu1). In 2009, Dan described his experience in 
launching Thomas Jefferson University's IR in "Feeding the Fledgling 
Repository: Starting an Institutional Repository at an Academic Health 
Sciences Library" which was published in Medical Reference Services 
Quarterly, v. 28, no. 2, p. 111-122, 2009. Dan received his 
undergraduate degree from McGill University and completed his graduate 
work in library and information science at the University of Michigan, 
School of Information.
