Subject: CDL-Collection policies question
From: "Tracie Ballock" <ballockt_at_duq.edu>
I am working on updating some specific areas of our collection policy. Several years ago
we made some major changes to our policy with the goal of putting it up on our website,
which we never did. My question is, are all of you keeping your collection policies up to
date and if so are they posted on your website or just maintained for internal use?
I look forward to hearing what other institutions are doing.
Thanks in advance,
Tracie

Hi Tracie,
All our policies are on our library’s website. This includes our collection development
policy, which was recently updated last year.

The Hunter Library collection development policy was revised last year (by committee and
our former collection development librarian), and it is available on our Web site. See

We just finished our general collection development policy and also 30 individual subject
policies. It is available on the web at http://libraries.cua.edu/about/colldev/policy.cfm.
In the course of developing our policy, we looked at what was available on the web from
similar institutions. Surprisingly, not too much. Good policies on the web are Boston
College and Notre Dame.

To piggy back on this ...does anyone have criteria/policy for selection of electronic
resources...specifically databases?
thanks,
