Radford University seeks a motivated, analytical and service-oriented
librarian to provide leadership and coordination for all collection
development activities of the university library including policy
development, planning, collection analysis and assessment, program
accreditation reviews, and information resource budgeting.
The Collection Management Librarian serves as the primary contact and
consultant for library liaisons and vendor sales representatives, and
facilitates meetings with both. He or she participates as a collection
development liaison in several subject areas, works closely with the
corresponding departmental liaisons, and serves as collections contact
to the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) consortium. The Collection
Management Librarian collaborates and works closely with the Coordinator
of Technical Services, Technical Services Department, library liaisons,
and teaching faculty, and shares supervision of 1 staff position. This
position reports to the Coordinator of Technical Services.
This is a twelve-month non-tenured professional faculty position. It
includes responsibilities for university service and professional
contributions. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications
and experience.
Required Qualifications: ALA-accredited Masters in Library/Information
Science; a minimum of one year academic library collection development
experience; demonstrated understanding of collection management and
bibliometric analysis and assessment; knowledge of library acquisitions
and the publishing industry, including trends in electronic resources
management and assessment; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications: experience in academic library acquisitions or
electronic resources management; detailed knowledge of LC Classification
as it applies to collection management; library supervision experience.
