I just talked to our Juv librarian and she uses the following:
*1. No circulation in the past 5 years (unless #3 happens)
2. Book purchased 5 or more years ago.
3. Not 'rare' ; 'scarce' ; or otherwise 'special' (as per
www.used.addall.com <http://www.used.addall.com/>) -including a medal
winner, though if there are
multiple copies of a medal winner I may discard one.
4. items are damaged
We have a pretty good collection of juv fiction and children's picture
books. I also provide funds for replacements of some damaged books.
