Subject: PL Collection development survey

We are looking for participants for a research project on free online resources
used by public libraries.

Library directors and heads of collection development are invited to participate
in a research study looking at public library use of free online resources. It
is the intention of this study to discover what free online resources are being
utilized by public libraries and how they are being used in order to examine the
nature of ‘the collection.’ Directors and collection development heads may
designate someone else on staff to answer this survey on behalf of the library.

If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete a survey lasting 15
minutes.

You can complete the questionnaire at a time and location of your convenience.
Staff from public libraries across the United States and Canada are asked to
complete the questionnaire.

The results of this survey will be presented at the American Library Association
conference in New Orleans in June of 2011.

Your participation will help us to gain insight into public library collections
of free e-resources and raise awareness of particular resources of interest.

Participation in this study is voluntary. You may refuse to participate, refuse
to answer any questions or withdraw from the study at any time. There are no
known risks involved from participating in this study. Your survey responses
will be anonymous.

If you agree to participate, the survey can be found here -
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/e-resources-survey

You are free to ask questions about the study or the questionnaire at any time.
