pay-per-view requests
From: Sarah Hamrick <sarah.hamrick_at_gallaudet.edu>

Our library has recently received several requests from faculty who want to show episodes
of TV shows to their classes. We normally buy DVDs, but we've had a couple of requests
recently for episodes that are available only through "video on demand." For a small fee
the episode would be available for viewing for 24 hours.

Does anyone on the list have experience with this type of purchase? While the fees are
tiny, I'm not sure it's entirely appropriate for the library to provide this type of
service. We do, however, provide access to a couple of "pay-per-view" document services
(most notably Science Direct's Article Choice). I'm primarily concerned with the logistics
of providing access to the videos.
