Collection Development Librarian - Electronic Books

Principal Role
This position, working as part of a collection management team, provides leadership in 
coordinating the selection, activation, and maintenance of purchased electronic book 
resources. Reporting to the Head of Collection Management, this position manages the 
workflows and records needed to ensure access to these resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Coordinate the budget expenditures for the electronic book resources, in consultation 
with the Head of Collection Development.
* Manage the selection and assessment of electronic book resources in consultation with 
appropriate campus faculty and Library faculty and staff.
* Participate in long-range planning and implementation of goals and objectives for the 
electronic book collections and the Collection Management Department.
* Develop and maintain records related to electronic book resources, including updating of 
vendor records, usage statistics, overlap analysis, and reporting.
* Provide leadership in the Library's transition from print to electronic book collections.
* Coordinate resolution of access problems of electronic book resources with related 
library and university departments.
* Work closely with vendors and negotiate licenses for electronic book resources.
* Collaborate with Information Management and Library Systems staff on the creation and 
maintenance of holdings and item records for electronic book resources in the library's 
web-delivered discovery interfaces.
* Maintain currency in regional and national initiatives in electronic book resource 
management, including consortium opportunities, publishing models/projects, and 
preservation systems.
* Take shifts at Library Information Desk and participate in the library's information 
literacy and liaison programs as assigned.
* Suggest resources to teaching faculty for possible acquisition.
* Participate in regularly scheduled departmental or library staff meetings, and in 
Faculty Senate Committee meetings as committee appointments require.

Availability & Salary

This salaried, benefited, full-time, non-tenured, 12-month, faculty position is offered 
for a minimum of 40 hours per week. Most scheduled hours are during the weekdays; however, 
weekend and evening shifts are periodically required. Salary is commensurate with 
education and experience as determined by formulas established to ensure competitiveness 
with other major institutions of higher education.
