Subject weeding of microforms
Due to a space planning project, UNLV is targeting our microforms collections for weeding. My question is, how have other public university libraries handled the weeding of newspapers available on microfilm/fiche? My concerns are:
1. Many years ago we spent a lot of money buying these collections. Now we have many of them available online. Is it just a lost investment? Have you sold the collections? Donated the collections?
2. For those institutions that have online newspapers (such as NYT archive), did you toss out the microfilm?
You can send comments to me offline at cory.tucker_at_unlv.edu and I will post a summary of the responses.
Thanks in Advance,
Cory
