The ALCTS CRS Costs of Continuing Resources in Libraries Interest
Group invites you to attend:
Open Access: Entitlement, Opportunity, or Peril?
Sunday, January 17, 2010, 4:00-5:30 p.m.
Boston Convention & Exhibition Center--Room 157C
Current tough economic times are forcing libraries to explore
alternatives to conventional publishing access models. Many
institutions (like MIT) have expressed strong support for Open
Access while others (like University of Maryland) have proceeded
more cautiously. Can all parties, including publishers, in the
scholarly communication environment overcome the challenges from
this alternative? Come and hear our panelists'perspectives on
this issue and possible future trends, including those who had
voted not to require OA.
Terry Owen, Coordinator for the Digital Repository at the University of
Maryland (DRUM)
