    Cooperative Collection Development in Consortia

PLEASE FORGIVE THE CROSS-POSTING:

The HELIN Consortium of libraries is investigating cooperative
collection development plans within consortia, in particular, ones which
use a vendor to profile the collecting needs of the participating
libraries and deliver titles to the libraries without the need for firm
orders. If your library participates in such a venture, would you
please respond to the following questions:

1-- What consortium are you in?

2-- How many libraries participate in the cooperative collection
development/approval plan?

3-- What vendor do you use?

4-- What are the advantages of doing this for your library?

5-- What are the disadvantages?

6-- What are the 'roadblocks' to doing this successfully?

and send your answers to me directly:

Many thanks in advance,
