Librarians,

With the explosion of interest in ebooks from readers, the societies and
publishers who work with HighWire are excited to be publishing their
books online alongside their journals and other scholarly content. We’re
asking you to help us help them better understand what librarians and
library patrons are experiencing, expecting, and hoping for in ebooks,
by providing a few data points.

HighWire would appreciate your input by completing the survey below by
Oct 12th. It shouldn’t take much more than 10 minutes of your time, but
the combined data will be invaluable to the HighWire-affiliated
publishers as they figure out their policies and strategies on ebooks.

If you are interested in seeing how your fellow librarians are handling
ebook acquisitions, we would be happy to share a summary of the results
with you. (Data will remain anonymous, of course.) Simply indicate "yes"
in the last question, provide your email address, and we'll send you a
report with the final results.

We'll also be sharing this and other data we're collecting at the
Charleston Conference pre-conference session, "eBooks: Not Just Another
Binding," on Wednesday, November 4th. Hope to see you there!

Feel free to pass this message along to any colleagues you think may
also want to respond.

Thank you for your valuable participation!
