Embargo title access statistics
From: "Stern, David" <David_Stern_at_brown.edu>
Dear Collection Analysis Wizards,
We were recently reviewing our journal profiles in terms of
overlap between subscriptions and aggregator content.
We began to wonder if it was possible to identify the use of
these overlapping titles during either the current year and/or
during the embargo period. This would allow us to reduce
subscriptions without impacting access for titles with very
little current use.
We are uncertain if resolvers (such as SFX) and A-Z lists (such
as Serials Solutions) capture the specific years for journal
requests.
The OpenURL that is sent includes the DOI plus the complete
citation data … so it is really a question of whether the data is
stored to that level of granularity or if it is simply kept as an
increment only at the ISSN level.
Anybody have experience with this level of resolver data analysis?
(Of course, we could/might ask for this level of detail from the
publisher … but that might prove problematic.)
