Subject: Library Faculty Committee?
From: Jonas Barciauskas <barciaus_at_bc.edu>

Greetings:

I would appreciate it if those of you with some form of a library
faculty advisory committee.

/Please send me the following information, and I will summarize and
post to the list, Jonas Barciauskas <barciaus_at_bc.edu> /:

What is the committee's:
--size?
--make-up (any proportional representation by different subject
     		disciplines or professorial rank)?
--frequency of meetings?
--agenda-setting procedure?
--original charge?
--authority with regard to library policy-setting?

Also,
--Who convenes or chairs the faculty library committee meetings?
--The $64,000 question: Would you consider the committee a help or a
hindrance to the library and why?

I know I'm asking for a lot of information, but we're thinking of
recommending a committee and want to avoid making any false steps - or
I should say any major false steps. Some interesting complications
are sure to occur.

Any and all help will be deeply appreciated.

Jonas
