   *_General Description_*:

   This position holds a 2 year term appointment in the Collection 
Management & Special Services Department.  Provides collection 
management services to university students, faculty, staff, and the 
general public.  Other duties include participation in the development 
and delivery of library instruction and active liaison work with 
selected academic departments.  The bibliographer is responsible for 
collection management, promotion of library services, and specialized 
instruction related to programs in those academic departments. May 
serve at the reference desk.  Participates in library and university 
committees.
   _ _*_Specific Duties_*:

      1. Serves as bibliographer and liaison to selected academic
         departments; promotes the use of library services and resources
         among the students and faculty in selected academic disciplines.

      2. Provides library instruction to students and faculty through
         group instruction, research consultation, and via electronic and
         printed media.

      3. Participates in departmental and library management through
         service on various task-focused committees.

      4. May staff the reference desk, which provides both general
         reference and documents and maps reference, approximately 2-3
         hours a week.

      5. Performs other duties as assigned.

    *_Qualifications:_*

   _Required:_  ALA-accredited MLS or international equivalent; 
demonstrated experience with electronic resources; demonstrated 
commitment to providing quality library services and resources to 
students and faculty; demonstrated strong written and oral 
communication skills, and teaching skills.

    _Preferred:_  Collection management services experience in an 
academic library.

   _Salary_: Minimum = $44,795 (Instructor); $51,463 (Assistant 
Professor).  Salary and rank commensurate with credentials and 
experience.  Applicants with a second graduate degree will be 
considered for the rank of Assistant Professor.  Full-time, two year 
term position.

               Rod Library has a collection of 970,100 bound volumes, 
820,000 microforms, 566,000 documents, 41,200 maps, 22,000 sound and 
video recordings, 2,275 active print periodical 
           subscriptions, and 1,500 electronic periodical 
subscriptions.  Faculty and staff of 55 assisted by 80 students.  Rod 
Library uses an Innovative Interfaces Millennium catalog, the MetaLib 
                         federated search engine, the SFX OpenURL 
resolver, and the OCLC interlibrary loan system.  Member of the Cedar
